Meet Our Team
Cameron O'Connor, LCSW
I am passionate about therapies grounded in the here-and-now, and strongly believe that we all have the power to change our circumstances and shape our lives with focused, mindful efforts. I often blend this present-moment focus with traditional insight-oriented psychotherapy, so that the roots of problems are identified, processed, and overcome in tandem with the identification and implementation of effective strategies to change the here-and-now. As such, I am able to help clients process and heal from the past, while simultaneously helping clients become empowered for their present and future.
My experience includes work with both adolescents and adults, treating issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use, sexuality, gender transitioning, family conflicts, and more. I have specialized training in several effective therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) and Somatic Experiencing, a highly effective trauma treatment protocol. I believe that everyone is entitled to happiness and self-determination, and have oriented my professional development around implementation of the best and most effective therapy modalities available.
You may be wondering how I got to where I am today. After graduating with a bachelor's in psychology and working in the field of mental health for 6 years, I attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Social Policy and Practice. I finished the program at the top of my class with a Master's of Social Work (MSW) degree. Attending this renowned university allowed me to train with the top professionals from around the globe, including therapists, physicians, psychiatrists, researchers, and others. However, my most valuable experience has come from working with people one-on-one. Since I received my graduate degree, I have spent thousands of hours helping clients achieve their personal goals. I bring empathy, passion, and my authentic self to every client session and am proud to have had the privilege of being trusted to help my clients. Many of these hours were spent working with young people - adolescents, teenagers, and young adults. Working with these amazing younger folks left a lasting impact on me, and I vowed to ensure that my services would always be available for younger clients. While many agencies and group practices turn young clients away, I have made a focused effort of building a team that can help people as young as 12 years old through our counseling services.
Today, I am married to my wife Morgan and we run Harborlight Counseling together. We have worked to assemble a team of the best clinicians we could find. I truly hope to reach any client who is struggling with any problem, and I am confident we will be able to help anyone feel better.
I am skilled in working with: Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, Substance use, Sexuality, Gender transitioning, School issues, Relationships, Family conflict, Stress management, Gaming / internet addiction, Life transitions.

Clare Kane, LPC-A, M.T.S., M.Sc, M.A.
There is no cookie-cutter path to healing, and my first and most important job as a therapist is to create a safe space for each client and their unique story to be heard and accepted. What clients are experiencing in the present moment is often shaped both by their past and by the
hopes they have for their future. As such, I integrate a both/and approach in my work - one in which I help clients both process the past and integrate changes in the present moment that help them realize their hopes for the future. To do this, I draw from several research-based and trauma-informed modalities that combine counseling interventions with traditional psychoanalytic approaches. These include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Gestalt Therapy.
My educational and working background is similarly integrative. I have Master’s degrees in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Sacred Heart University, in Literature from the University of Edinburgh, and in Theology from the Pontifical John Paul II Institute at the Catholic University of America. Before becoming a counselor, I taught literature and composition at Fordham University and Pace University for many years and owned a therapeutic massage therapy practice. I also lecture and write on issues related to Infertility Grief and pastoral care of families. I enjoy working with clients of all ages and have experience in treating:
-Anxiety
-Depression
-School issues
-Relationship issues
-Stress management
-Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
-Bipolar Disorder
-Personality Disorders
-Grief, including Infertility Grief

My background encompasses more than 20 years working in the state, municipal and not-for-profit sectors. This has allowed me to work with individuals and families connected to the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, the Department of Developmental Services, the Department of Children and Families, probate court, and adult education. My educational background is similarly varied and includes a Bachelors degree in psychology, a Master’s in Special Education, and a Master’s in Social Work. My employment and educational backgrounds have provided me with a firm understanding not only of how systems work but also how these systems can be challenging to navigate and work with at the individual level. I have also been provided the opportunity to work alongside individuals and families from diverse backgrounds, strengths, abilities, and challenges. The successes that we were able to accomplish could have only occurred by working together and using a strength-based approach to achieving personal goals.
I enjoy working with individuals of all ages and backgrounds, and have experience treating others with:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Autism
- Trauma
- Grief and Loss
- Relationships
- Family conflict
- Work conflict
- Stress management
- Life transitions
- Substance Use

I am passionate about meeting people where they are at and embracing the individual experiences past and present in working towards goals of the future. I strive to create a safe space for people to process the comfortable and uncomfortable experiences without being judged or feeling shamed. I encourage curiosity and creativity when viewing our lives and being compassionate towards what we learn about ourselves.
I use a person centered, strengths based, and somatic lens of therapy around IFS and psychoanalytic techniques. As the mind and body are strongly connected, I care about both people’s physiological and emotional needs and how they overlap. I am constantly working to develop my therapeutic approach through research supported information around what my clients are experiencing and supporting their goals.

-Depression
-Substance Use
-Trauma
-Family Counseling
-Teen and Adolescent Issues

I am a passionate social worker dedicated to empowering my clients to utilize the strengths that already lie within them. I strive to create an environment that feels safe and non-judgmental for clients to feel seen and comfortable being their authentic self. I am committed to meeting clients where they are at and assisting them in processing difficult experiences, past or present, with empathy. I utilize modalities such as CBT and mindfulness-based therapy to help clients identify and change behaviors that may be creating negative patterns in their lives. I believe that each person is unique and therefore adjust treatment to focus on each client’s individual needs and goals.
I hold a Master's degree from New York University in clinical social work. I have practiced as a member of the psychotherapy team at private practices, academic institutions, and service centers for disabled adults. I frequently work with trauma, anxiety, depression, addiction, family problems, school problems, and other issues affecting individual well-being.

If you’ve made it this far into advocating for yourself and your mental health- you can stop now and take a breath. Congratulations! You’ve found a clinician that will meet you where you are in your goals and help you achieve them. It is imperative that everyone find a good match with a clinician. This means agreeing on treatment modalities, therapeutic relationship dynamic, communication and proper treatment debrief. I specialize in several modalities like Person Centered, DBT (dialectical behavioral therapy), CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) and Narrative Therapy. I utilize these modalities (and a cluster of more current modalities) to empower clients to address, analyze and make changes to current thinking patterns and behavior. We will work together to establish an understanding of what brought us together and what we want to see in order for things to get better.
My goal is to alleviate the stress that comes with making any life change and to provide effective problem solving to focus on issues at hand. We will work to build an accurate and relevant skill set for your mental health toolbox that you will take with you even beyond our treatment. Is this all sounding good? Contact us today and let’s begin this journey! I began studying Psychology at 12 years old as a hobby and decided to embark on the journey to become a clinician in high school. I studied psychology in my undergraduate years at The University of Hartford and then pursued my graduate degree at University of Bridgeport.
